Learner driver numbers are booming

Here at RED Driving School, the number of people who want to learn to drive with us is going up. Between October and December 2014, we saw a 23 percent year-on-year increase in the number of learner enquiries.

Like the car market, the driver training market is a good barometer of the economic health of the nation. When times are hard, people tend to push back learning to drive because of the cost attached to learning – and to driving once they pass.

At RED, we have a unique and modern approach to new driver training – which now includes free online e-learning and cognitive training (RRBT) – and we’re always looking to recruit more instructors to help us out with the increasing number of pupils. It’s great to see that the number of people learning to drive is on the up – according to the Department for Transport, this is because more people are in work and need a car to get to and from their workplace. As a result, we need more instructors to cope with rising demand, which then leads to more employment – it’s a win-win situation!
