FIRSTDRIVE | First Driver Experience

Experience Details:

All FIRSTDRIVE drivers will be in control of a dual-controlled car as they practice essential car control and build up their confidence, which will prove vital for when they hit the road for real. Safety is paramount but the emphasis is on having fun whilst building confidence and experience!

Drivers will be taught the basics of driving by one of our team of highly trained instructors within the confines of our private tarmac area at the RED Donington Driver Training Centre, creating a safe and stress-free environment, perfect for their first taste of driving.

The cars are fitted with dual controls and our DVSA approved driving instructors will be on hand to teach simple and effective techniques to get you driving.

The experience includes:

Driver’s welcome and short safety briefing
Basic introduction to the vehicle controls
How to operate the vehicle to move and stop
Simple steering control tasks such as steering through cones
Gaining confidence and skills behind the wheel
Debrief and certification

If you’re looking for gifts for a car lover, but are a little stuck for ideas, a FIRSTDRIVE experience day could be just what you’re looking for. The FIRSTDRIVE experience is a minimum of 1 hour in the car and starts by covering some safety and theory to help provide each participant with an understanding of controlling a car, as well as making the in-car experience more valuable. You’ll then progress to the driving stage where you’ll learn from both the driver’s seat and the passenger seat, under the watchful eyes of our experienced and patient instructors.

What to expect

The boring (but important) bit!

To start with there will be an introduction and classroom briefing and then an in-car briefing on controls to make sure all participants are familiar with the car & prepared to drive.

The Fun Bit!

Based at the world famous Donington Park racing Circuit, we have access to a safe training facility to help our first drivers get use to driving! You'll be in the car for a minimum of an hour on maximum a 3:1 basis.

What you'll learn

Moving off and stopping, Steering through cone configurations, Clutch Control and its purpose, Changing gears and Building up speed and steady driving.

Debrief & Certificate

Once we're done with driving we'll debrief and digest everything you've learned so it sticks for when you get behind the wheel on a public road!
