Driving Instructor Training Costs

Over the last 20 years, we have led the way in providing driver instructor training, helping thousands of people achieve this goal. It is for this reason that we understand the commitment that is required to become a driving instructor and the financial expectations that exist alongside that.

YOUR TRAINING OPTIONS

Training to become a driving instructor is an investment, so we want to be clear about what it costs and how you can pay. Choose the refund option that suits you, then pay in full or by instalments. The total you pay is the same whichever way you choose.

Get up to £2,999 back. Refunded over your first 24 months as a RED franchised driving instructor, subject to the terms of your agreements.

50% Refund Option

Get up to £1,150 back. A lower course fee with a smaller refund opportunity. Refunded over your first 24 months as a RED franchised driving instructor, subject to the terms of your agreements.

Flexible Payment Options

Instalment plans cost exactly the same as paying in full. No interest and no credit checks. By paying in full you’ll benefit from receiving more of your training course refund once you’re working as a RED instructor faster.

N.B. Prices quoted are those payable to RED. They don’t include costs payable to others, such as DVSA test fees and your ADI registration and trainee licence fees.

For reference, current DVSA fees are: Part 1 test £81, Part 2 test £111, Part 3 test £111, trainee licence £140 (optional) and ADI registration £300. These are set by the DVSA and paid directly to them, and may change.

MAXIMISE YOUR RETURN WITH RED

We believe that we have the industry leading franchise package which will ensure you maximise your earnings as a driving instructor once you have completed your training. Whichever training package you choose, you may be entitled to a refund of your training fees. The size of that refund depends on the package you choose: 100% of your fees on the 100% refund option, or 50% of your fees on the 50% refund option.

Once you have successfully completed your training, joined and worked with RED Driver Training as a franchisee for a qualifying period, we will refund your training fees up to a maximum of £2,999 on the 100% refund option, or £1,150 on the 50% refund option*. *Course fee refunded gradually, up to the maximum for the package you choose (£2,999 on the 100% refund option, £1,150 on the 50% refund option), over your first 24 months on the road as a RED franchised driving instructor. Repayments are made through a combination of credit against your franchise fee and cash payments, and are subject to the terms and conditions of both the course agreement purchased at the time of enrolment and any franchise agreement you enter into with RED.

In order to support you in your journey to becoming a driving instructor, the RED team encourages you to train as you learn with a potential driving instructor (PDI) licence.
