Passing your driving test is a major milestone, but becoming a safe and confident driver doesn’t stop there – there’s still plenty to learn as a newly qualified driver.
Head over to our Newly Qualified Driver hub, where RED has useful resources to support your journey further.

The first step is to apply for a provisional driving licence. Without it, you cannot legally begin driving lessons. You can apply online on the DVLA website.
On average, learners require around 45 hours of professional tuition and an additional 22 hours of private practice to become test-ready, as recommended by the DVSA. However, the actual number varies—some learners may need fewer hours, while others may need more depending on their individual progress and confidence.
We strive to ensure that for every person who learns to drive with RED, your comfort and confidence are our priority. If you feel that your current instructor isn’t the right fit or you’re relocating to a new area, simply contact us. We’ll arrange a new instructor to ensure your learning experience remains enjoyable and productive.
Yes! If you need to stop your lessons for any reason, rest assured your unused funds will be returned to you promptly.
