How it works

1

Part 1 - Theory & Hazard Perception

The first step is an online theory test, very like the one students have to take. RED gives you everything you need to pass, including round-the-clock access to our learning platform.

2

Part 2 - Driving Ability

Step two is a practical driving assessment – with our excellent online learning resources, expert back office support and dedicated 1-to-1 training built around you, over 90% of our trainees succeed (for those who took all available attempts to pass).

3

Part 3 - Instructor Ability

The final step is showing you can actually teach, with an examiner observing you deliver a real lesson. With 24 hours of 1-to-1 training, online resources and ongoing support, this is where your new career becomes reality with RED.

What our trainees have to say...

FAQs about training with RED

How long does the course take?

It is often hard to commit to a fixed timeframe as people learn at different speeds, meaning people take their tests at different points. We expect trainees to take about 12 months to qualify or start earning on a RED-sponsored trainee licence. Some move faster, others need more time, but we ensure you’re fully supported and properly prepared for every stage. Our focus isn’t on speed, but on your long-term success. If you are more focused on speed we also offer a fast track programme helping you pass up to 10-12 weeks sooner.

What support is available once I've qualified?

With up to 74 hours of 1-to-1 practical training, RED provides more in-car training than nearly any other provider: delivering this level of training costs us more than your course fees, proving our commitment to your success. Unlike most providers, who group trainees together, our 1-to-1 approach ensures you gain invaluable hands-on experience: since we’re the UK’s largest training provider, we can offer unmatched flexibility and support to give you the best possible training experience.

Does RED offer any guarantees?

While we don’t offer vague guarantees about pass rates, income, or how fast you’ll become qualified – and we caution you to question any provider that does – here’s what we can promise: You won’t find better value for money or a better opportunity to succeed than with RED – both in qualifying as an ADI and in building a long-term, successful business.

Will the training work around my work & family arrangements?

Once we connect you with your trainer, you’ll agree on a location and schedule that works for both of you, making it easier to fit around existing arrangements. While we don’t have trainers in every town or village, most trainees travel 35–45 minutes by car for practical training, with longer journeys possible in rural areas.

Are there any other costs?

Your course fee covers structured training, but there are additional costs along the way, such as DVSA test and licence fees, and possibly others depending on your route. Our dedicated recruitment advisor will guide you through these costs from the start, so you know exactly what to expect.
