How do Autotests work?

The aim of Autotests is to negotiate as quickly as possible a memorised, low-speed course without hitting any markers – it is all about car control.

Drivers compete on a set course – marked out by plastic cones. They tackle several tests, with multiple attempts at each. The driver with the lowest accumulated time is the winner, although penalties are incurred for hitting cones, failing to stop on a line, or for taking the wrong route.

You will receive a detailed pre-drive briefing before you take to the auto-test course.

What do I need to know?

Minimum age is 16 years
Minimum height is 1.4 metres
Please wear comfortable clothing and a pair of trainers or low sole shoes
In wet weather a change of clothes is advisable
This experience will last approximately 1 ½ hours
All dates are subject to availability

What’s included?

Introduction and safety briefing with a fully trained instructor
Approximately 1 ½ hours experience, this will include approx. 15 minutes where you will be driving the vehicle yourself

Licence Requirements

The Caterham Auto-test experience is suitable for all types of drivers, and because it’s RED-owned, we’re also able to run the course for those who have yet to pass their driving test. But, if that’s the case, we insist that the driver is currently trained to a level where competent with car control. We will need evidence of this from a driving instructor.

Guests

Guests are welcome, but please note that ‘viewing’ of the experience may not be possible due to health & safety and other on-site activities, in which case guests will be able to wait at the reception area or use the ‘public’ café on-site when open.

Buy a Caterham Auto-test Experience voucher by calling the RED team or by clicking the ‘Book Now’ button to buy online. We’ll then send an e-voucher and booking information to you or directly to the recipient. Please note, buying an e-voucher online does not secure the 4×4 experience – yourself or the participant can call the team to book the day and time.

The voucher is valid for 6 months from the date of issue, and the experience must be booked before the expiry date.
