RED Driving School committed to road safety education
Students at Hove Park School received a potentially life-saving visit in December when RED Driving School called in with its road safety simulator as part of its journey to spread the safe driving message throughout the UK.
RED Driving School, one of the UK’s fastest growing national driving schools, created the driving simulator to educate young people about this important issue.
The aim is to reduce the number of young people killed or injured on the UK’s roads each year, as sadly this group is statistically the most likely to be involved in road traffic crashes.
The visit was led by RED Driving School’s Road Safety Officer, Andy Milne, who began with a road safety presentation before inviting pupils to experience the driving simulator.
The presentation highlights the pleasures of safe driving and the potential consequences of dangerous driving while using a mobile phone, drink or drugs, not wearing a seatbelt or through excessive speed while behind the wheel.
Andy said: “RED Driving School is committed to road safety education; this is a topic we take very seriously. I feel privileged to be in a position where I can influence hundreds of young people to prevent them from becoming part of the horrendous statistics associated with road traffic crashes.
“This initiative, entirely funded by forward-thinking driving school, RED, saves lives each day. The blessing is we’ll never know whose.”
Over the years, RED Driving School’s road safety unit has visited more than 500 schools and colleges across the UK to reinforce the road safety message, which can be tailored depending on the audience and its individual requirements.
Phil Byrne, Assistant Director of Sixth Form at Hove Park School, said: “Andy’s visit has been key in educating the next generation of drivers to think twice about their actions when out on the road to protect themselves and others. I’m sure our pupils will take this lesson and keep it with them for a long time to come.”
