Councillor Jeffrey Hook to continue his driving instruction alongside Mayoral appointments

Jeffrey, who joined RED Driving School in December 2007, will serve his council for the next 12 months, but will continue his driving instruction in the Southwark area in between his Mayoral appointments.

As first citizen of the borough the Mayor will represent Southwark at hundreds of civic, ceremonial and social engagements throughout the year, upholding and promoting the purposes of the constitution and encouraging public involvement in the council's activities.

Jeffrey has had a varied career, serving with both the Merchant and the Royal Navy, before moving into computing, and then becoming active with the Liberal Democrats when he moved to Southwark in 1990.

For the last four years he has served on the Executive in a number of portfolios including Regeneration, Community Safety and Environment. In 2008 he was also appointed to the Executive of the London Accident Prevention Council.
